As one of our patients was scheduling her next appointment, she shared with me that she is grateful for how much corrective chiropractic care and floatation therapy has helped her. She said, “I no longer have the pain going up into my head. I’ve had this pain for so long that I’ve forgotten what it felt like to not have it anymore. I can’t believe how much the floatation therapy has helped my fibromyalgia symptoms too.”
To give a little of a backstory on this patient, before meeting us, she had gone through multiple x-rays, MRIs, and CT scans because doctors couldn’t figure out what was causing the pain that was traveling up into her head. She was also suffering from numbness going into her shoulders and hands. All the tests came back normal. She tried many therapies including physical therapy, acupuncture, massage, and even medication. When she met us, she was willing to try anything to dull the pain. After taking structural radiographs, we found that she had a loss of curvature in her neck, anterior head syndrome, along with a misaligned atlas bone. Corrective chiropractic care along with consistent floating has helped to relieve her chronic headaches and numbness and even reduce her fibromyalgia symptoms. Conversations like the one we had today remind us why we do what we do every day.
As a corrective chiropractic office in Carol Stream, NorthCoast is often people’s last stop as they have tried to figure out what is causing their chronic pain. Corrective chiropractors look at testing such as x-rays in an entirely different way. We aren’t simply looking for breaks or fractures, we are looking at them at a deeper level. People often know that severe cases such as scoliosis have a long term impact on people’s overall health. Primary care physicians often refer to back specialists who work to treat the pain symptoms with medication and bracing. If the scoliosis is severe enough, surgery is recommended to attempt to straighten out the spine and keep the scoliosis from progressing. At NorthCoast, we work with people with scoliosis on a daily basis but we also work to correct smaller misalignments that can cause secondary symptoms of pain, headaches, migraines, and numbness- just to name a few. The nervous system, our brain and spinal cord, is our master controller of our entire body. Keeping this system in tip top shape allows the rest of our body to function and move the way it was designed to.
